About Comet Courier

Comet Courier is a free 3D space runner made by an independent developer. It is built to be quick to pick up, hard to put down, and to leave you knowing a little more about the galaxy we live in.

The idea

Most endless runners send you down a street or a temple corridor. Comet Courier sends you across the Milky Way. You fly a small courier ship carrying humanity's reply to a signal from beyond the galactic core, and every sector on the way is a real place: the planets of our solar system, star clusters, nebulae, a red supergiant, the wreck of a supernova, and finally the supermassive black hole at the centre of the galaxy.

The game has no characters and no chasers. Instead it asks you to read a 3 × 3 grid of lanes and flight levels, keep a fuel tank alive, and decide when to spend power-ups. Obstacles are things you could plausibly meet in space, and the course is built so that there is always a way through.

How it's made

Everything you see is generated in code as the game runs. There are no 3D model files: the ships, asteroids, planets, nebulae and the black hole are built from simple shapes and shaders in Three.js, which keeps the game small and fast to load. The music is generated live too, building up as your run speeds up.

Learning while you play

Each place on the route has its own page with real facts, so if a sector catches your eye you can find out what you were flying past. Explore the route.
